Baby Beauty

Baby Beauty, do you even know what that is?!

It’s my new terminology for pregnancy hormones on your face.

The night that I thought I could maybe-just-possibly-doubtful-but-then-again-maybe be pregnant, I had just gotten out of the shower & my face was about as red as a tomato. No joke. Once most of the redness went away, I noticed that the redness seemed to stay just on my cheeks.

The next day, I indeed was pregnant. Go figure.

Over the past 7 months, I have learned that in my case, the saying, “little girls take their mother’s beauty” during pregnancy is true. Not in that, the mom becomes horrifyingly ugly kinda way, you know, the way we all see ourselves at our worst moments.  Not that way.  Just in the way that, your teenage acne comes back, or maybe you get melasma, or your face becomes super dry, or quite the opposite, super oily. Regardless, the little bundle of joy, takes away any power of the magic cream you’ve sworn away your life too & creates your “Baby Beauty.”

Before I knew I was having a girl, I asked EVERY SINGLE PERSON I knew that had been through a pregnancy, “I have baby acne, did you get that?” And every single person would look at me like I was crazy. Until, one day I was talking to one of my sweet friends who just so happened to recently have a baby girl & I asked her the same question. She immediately responded with, “OMG yes, it’s like teenage acne!” — FINALLY, I had someone I could relate too.. she knew exactly what I was talking about & even gave me her entire regimen to try out.

**Side tracking here… when she admitted to having “Baby Beauty” as well, I immediately stopped thinking I was having a boy & switched my vote to – it’s a girl. FOR SURE. **

Obviously, once we found out it was indeed a girl, it just made perfect sense. Holland is taking all my beauty & I’m totally fine with that. If I have to endure having “baby acne”, or “teenage acne”, what looks like rosacea & Lord knows all the other issues that are going on for the 9-10 months that it takes to create her – I’ll take it.

However, I will do whatever I can to safely minimize these “Baby Beauty” issues, which is why my entire morning & nightly regimen has changed – for the better.  I would like to think that once Holland is out, my face will be much healthier than it was before I even got pregnant. — In about 4 months, I’ll update you all to that.

After speaking with my friend & trying a few of her beauty regimens, I figured out what works best for me & maybe – just maybe,  it will help another expecting mommas out there to realize: 1) YOU ARE NOT ALONE & 2) there are beauty tools & tricks to minimize the “Baby Beauty.”

Before I tried any new facial creams, oils, etc. I went to The Ritz-Carlton Dallas Spa, received a Vitamin C Facial (which helped tremendously). I would HIGHLY recommend getting one, they use Natura Bisse products which not only helped with the redness, rejuvenation & added moisture – they feel & smell amazing too!

After getting the facial, I went to Neimans and asked for samples of what my friend had recommended & spoke to my BeautyCounter  consultant – I tried what was recommended & once I found what worked & what I liked… the rest is history!
